What does Physcial Education look like at Sheringdale?

Physical Education (PE) at Sheringdale is an important and integral part of the children’s development. A full range of physical activities are taught by a specialist teacher, including games and gymnastics, dance and athletics, outdoor and adventurous pursuits. We use the Southfields pool for swimming in Key Stage 2. We aim to promote a healthy lifestyle through the enjoyment of physical exercise, nurturing the ethos of fair play and team spirit, always teaching safe practise and good use of sports apparatus. Sheringdale is lucky in having a well-equipped hall for gymnastics and a marked playground for games. During the year, our specialist PE teacher teaches all the children, covering a range of skills and games across the curriculum. These, together with after-school clubs each term and a full calendar of sporting fixtures within the borough, ensure that Sheringdale chikdren can develop their physical skills to the full. Our sporting calendar is completed with our sports day. The various sporting events challenge the children’s skills while developing the spirit of co-operation and fun.
